Thank you for being part of our 2016. It’s so incredible to keep an eye *professionally* on what’s happening with vegan events and eateries around the world. For many years, a version of this email newsletter focused on NYC tri-state area events and information. As I found my stride with that format, I became involved with Vegucated… and this was put aside to groove on that amazing journey. Now with the great work of Steph – thank YOU Vegan Travel Club! – we’ve been able to expand this community project into a business. Steph & I very much look forward to bringing you more of these in the new year. (Knock.)
Amidst ALL of the things this year (!!), it does seem useful and important to note how amazing it is to have so very many vegan places opening, multiplying, developing and otherwise. With that, want to share a couple of observations…
Before that whole election thing, I was lucky enough to attend and speak at the 3rd annual Seed Food & Wine Festival in Miami. WOW! What a sprawling 10-part event bringing together people, plates and poshness. Already anticipating the next edition 🙂 Overlapping all that was the enormous amusement of seeing Miami be so much about vegan vegan vegan in multiple ways 10 years later; when it was nearly ready to run me out of town for even saying the word in ’07.
Back at home in NYC, it’s marvelous to see Chef Chloe Coscarelli continue to score SO M A N Y Today Show appearances, headlines, and exposure for her flourishing empire! Inspiring – to say the least. And this is only a sliver of what vegan NYC has Going ON lately 🙂
My take on 2016, in part, is that veganism has either arrived or arriving; let’s see what 2017 says about it though.
Please know Vegan RoundUP – this newsletter – now offers a combined Mountain & Central edition, and a regular monthly Global edition; that is, events and headlines for beyond North America 🙂 We do appreciate your headline shares and event leads in reply emails. The comments are so spammy I feel like it’s the 1950s or something, so they’ll likely be turned off this year yet.
To keep this special project going AND growing, we very much appreciate you recommending others subscribe! This is free to all, yet a larger readership begets more sponsors and more fun 😉
Very special thanks to Veg Dining for encouraging and supporting my leaning into more professional food writing this year. I would urge any frequent diners of the Candles to buy a Veg Dining discount card, and then put aside those saved dollars for a trip over to the amazing scene in Philly, down to Miami, or out to Portland or Los Angeles.
Cheers to a terrific 2017 for you and yours!
